The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announces on February 7, 2025, members of the Traffic Division were conducting a License Checkpoint in the area of South Old Wire Road and North Duffie Road. While conducting the license check point, a Deputy with Special Operations Unit initiated a traffic stop on a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado after the driver attempted to avoid coming through the license checkpoint.
During the traffic stop, the driver was identified as Mr. Daniel Locklear. While speaking with Mr. Locklear, deputies could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Special Operations Deputies, assisted by members of the Criminal Interdiction Team, conducted a probable cause search for the Chevy Silverado.
A search of the vehicle resulted in a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, Glock 9mm handgun, Glock .40 caliber handgun, marijuana, and a large amount of U.S. currency being located. Mr. Locklear was arrested and transported to the Hoke County Detention Center.
Mr. Locklear was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and maintaining vehicle/place for controlled substance. Mr. Locklear was taken before the magistrate and held on no bond.
