On May 25, 2023, at approximately 8:08 a.m., Hoke County School Resource Officer was notified of a juvenile sexual offense at Scurlock Elementary School. Hoke County Detectives responded to the school to meet with the juvenile victim.
During the investigation, and Child Interview /Medical Exam, it was learned the victim was sexually assaulted by Matthew Hunt.
On March 5, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the United States Marshal’s Service was able to detain without incident Matthew Hunt on juvenile sexual offense charges. Statutory Rape of Child by Adult (F, x2), Statutory Sex Offense w/ Child by Adult (F, x3), and Indecent Liberties with Child (F, x6).
Mr. Hunt was transported to Hoke County Sheriff’s Office where Mr. Hunt spoke with Detectives about the case after waiving his Miranda Rights. Mr. Hunt was transported to Hoke County Detention Center, served warrants for the listed charges, and received a Secured $150,000.00 Bond. Investigation is on-going at this time.
