The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on January 11, 2025, the Special Operations Unit Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Chevy Impala with no registration displayed. When the Special Operations Unit Deputy exited his patrol vehicle, the front passenger exited the vehicle and fled from the traffic stop. Deputy observed the passenger carrying a Draco style rifle and fled behind residences on Arabia Road. A canine was utilized to track the passenger. During the traffic, stop the driver was identified as Emmanuel Jackie Hammonds. Mr. Hammonds and the rear passenger were asked to step out of the vehicle so that a probable cause search of the 2011 Chevy Impala could be conducted. During the search, Deputies located a Taurus handgun, suspected cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Emmanuel Jackie Hammonds was placed under arrest and transported to the Hoke County Detention Center. At the Detention Center, Mr. Emmanuel Jackie Hammonds was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana <1/2 oz, carrying a concealed weapon, and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Emmanuel Jackie Hammonds went before the magistrate and received a $5,000.00 secured bond.
