The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on January 9, 2025, that the Special Operations Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Honda Accord with expired registration. During the traffic, stop the driver was identified as Michael Tyron Miles. While speaking with Mr. Miles the odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Miles and the passengers were asked to step out of the vehicle so that a probable cause search of the 2013 Honda Accord could be conducted. During the search, Special Operations Unit Deputies located a Glock handgun under the driver's seat. The Glock was ran through Hoke County Communications which revealed the Glock handgun was stolen out of Robeson County. Mr. Miles was placed under arrest and transported to the Hoke County Detention Center. At the Detention Center, Mr. Miles was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon (F). Mr. Miles went before the magistrate and received a $5,000.00 secured bond.
