The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announces on October 3, 2025, detectives with the Narcotic/Vice Suppression Unit (NVSU)-Criminal Interdiction Team were conducting street level interdiction in the area of Laurinburg Road, Raeford and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a tint violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jim L. Cagle. Mr. Cagle did not have an active driver’s license and consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, detectives located a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol in the map pocket of the passenger seat. Detectives continued their investigation and discovered the firearm was reported stolen out of Richmond County. It was also learned that Mr. Cagle was a convicted felon. Mr. Cagle was placed under arrest and transported to the Hoke County Detention Center. He was charged with possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. Mr. Cagle was given a $1,500.00 unsecured bond by the magistrate and released.
