The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 8:48 AM Hoke County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to an “Armed Robbery” at the 15000 block of Highway 15/501 in Hoke County. Deputies contacted victim/cashier at the Dollar General Store. The cashier advised what appeared to be a black male wearing a hoodie and a “neck gator” came into the store. The suspect then brought two items to the register to check out, then drew a handgun. The male then had the cashier to lock the front door to get into the safe. While securing the door, the cashier attempted to lock the suspect inside, but the suspect noticed and ran into the door. The door opened and the suspect fell to the ground, then fled on foot, out of sight, heading in the direction of Moore County line. Detectives Notified and later arrive on scene.

From May 30 to June 13, 2025, the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office responded to three armed robberies at Dollar General: two at 4929 Rockfish Rd and one at 15495 Hwy 15/501 in Aberdeen, NC. During the investigations, detectives from Hoke County, with assistance from the ATF, identified the suspect as D'mirist Ford and obtained warrants for his arrest. 

On June 16, 2025, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Mr. Ford was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Hoke County Detention Center and charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was denied bond and has a court date set for June 17, 2025, at the Hoke County Courthouse.
